this because before the pandemic, we met virtually and only recently did we, these past few months,
we began to meet in the council chambers. And I know prior to the pandemic, it was tradition, a tradition by each council member on the Tuesday before our council meetings to recognize outstanding people in the community. And so I want to thank all of you for giving me the privilege for the first time since becoming a council member to actually participate in this time-honored ceremony.
So congratulations.
And so for those who are watching the live stream, we're here tonight on this Tuesday, September 6, 2022, to congratulate the Monterey Park Sports Club girls softball team for placing
second at the National Softball Tournament. Isn't that amazing? Yeah, come on, it's louder.
Let's have all of Monterey Park. Yeah! Woo! And as I mentioned, you know, traditionally,
City Council, you know, we do these special days, and so today is no different. The City Council is proud to recognize and commend all of you for your dedication, your commitment, and your hard work towards youth softball, and really, all of you are role
models.
All of you are role models to your sisters, your brothers, your parents, and in the community who said, you know, it's too hot or the pandemic
and somehow we can't be active.
That is not true because all of you are a testimony to that and we just are so proud of you.
